LONDON, 22nd June 2015- Chris Ireland, UK Chairman and Lead Director of Capital Markets at JLL, has been appointed as Chairman of the Investment Property Forum (IPF). Ciaran Carvalho, Partner and Head of Nabarro’s Real Estate Group, has been made Vice-Chairman.
Chris, who takes on the Chairman’s role for the next 12 months, commented: “In 2014 direct real estate investment in the UK hit a record £65 billion. The UK is attractive to both domestic and overseas investors and our property market continues to offer strong returns. The low interest rate environment and volatility in other asset classes will mean that this robustness will continue. “The liquidity and transparency of the market also underlies this success, and the IPF has a key role to play in ensuring that this continues and improves. We are also well placed to influence the long overdue emergence of alternative investment sectors such as student housing, healthcare and renewables, as well as residential property, as mainstream institutional investments in the UK.”
Vice-Chairman, Ciaran Carvalho, added: “As the UK commercial real estate market becomes more sophisticated and the profile of ownership becomes more international, the IPF’s goal of enhancing the understanding and efficiency of property as an investment is increasingly important. It is therefore a great privilege, as a lawyer, to be asked to take on this role at this time and I look forward to working with Chris during his term as Chairman.”
